The stars crawled out of the woodwork in red fabric, sequined dresses and dubious sleeves for the 2008 Oscars. And whose lights shone the most dimly? Tilda Swinton was considered as the most hideously dressed. She’s not an ugly woman, but she seems to work really, really hard at it.

Although we love best actress nominee Julie Christie and her dark ruby silk dress… the weird, pink, bunched-up elbow-length gloves were a little on the putrid side. Another fashion loser was screenwriting winner Diablo Cody, who sported a Peggy Bundy-inspired leopard print chiffon by Dior that also had a slit right up to the crotch.

The better-dressed Oscar attendees included best actress winner Marion Cotillard wore a Jean Paul Gaultier white dress with a mermaid-like effect. Jessica Alba also looked stunning in a plum Marchesa gown. Hilary Swank also rocked an awesome Versace gown, while Anne Hathaway looked stunning in scarlet.
