Lost Tribe of Brazil

Lost Indian Tribe Discovered in Brazil’s Amazon Forest

Lost Indian members of one of the world’s last uncontacted tribes have been spotted by airplane in Brazil’s Amazon forest, according to the advocacy group Survival.Lost Indian Tribe of Brazil

Photos from an aircraft were taken during several flights over one of the remotest parts of the western Amazon rain forest, close to Peru, aproaching the Pacific Ocean even though still thousands of miles away.

The overflight to research the Lost Indian Tribe Discovered in Brazil was performed to show their houses, to show they are there, to show they exist, according to Jose Meirelles who works for Brazil’s Indian affairs department Funai.

He said the indigenous group’s numbers in the Amazon Rain Forest are increasing. But other uncontacted indian groups are in danger from illegal logging and other dangers, Survival said.

Survival International provided this photo showing Indians of a lost tribe who apparently have never before had any contact with the outside world. They are reacting to a May overflight at their camp in the Terra Indigena Kampa e Isolados do Envira, Acre state, Brazil, close to the border with Peru.

As of now there is no information whether those Brazilian indians are cannibals or not.

Illegal logging as well as diamond and gold mining are pushing the tribe away from its homeland and threatening its way of life, said Survival International, a group that advocates for the rights of indigenous people. Of the more than 100 uncontacted tribes in existence globally, about half live in the Amazon in Peru or Brazil.
